About

On March 22, 2017, the Wausau Community was devastated by an act of violence that took the lives of four community members.  Detective Jason Weiland, one of the victims, was on duty at the time of the incident and heroically gave his life protecting the citizens of our community.

In the days following the tragedy, the area's Law Enforcement Blue families came together to support Jason’s daughters, Ella and Anna, his wife, Kara, and one another. Throughout the days of the funeral and as the healing process began, a special bond formed, truly connecting the hearts of the wives and significant others of those families.

In the months that followed, the Blue Hearts began to focus on how we could move forward in a positive way, and turn our pain and sadness into something beautiful and healing for ourselves and others.

And the mission of the Blue Hearts became clear: “Supporting local law enforcement, their families, the communities they live in, and the loved ones of fallen officers nationwide.”
